Khalid al-Isfahani said: A mill operated by water or by an animal signifies goodness and blessing and the easing of one’s livelihood. If the mill wheel is turning, it signifies war; if it is not turning, it signifies a woman whom one will marry. Grinding flour with a hand mill signifies goodness and benefit. The owner of this dream will earn by the labor of his own hands and distribute from it to the poor. According to one report, he will marry a good and wealthy woman or purchase a beautiful slave girl. The theft, breaking, or shattering of the mill wheel is not good. It signifies the death of the dreamer. If the owner of the mill whose wheel has thus suffered loss is known, it signifies his death.

‘Abd al-Ghani al-Nabulsi says: The mill in which wheat is ground is like the separation of truth from falsehood. The dream is interpreted accordingly. For there are knowledge, justice, equity, judgment, and command therein. The zakat of the grains that are ground is paid. For this reason, it represents sustenance and benefit. The millstones lie one above the other, and this signifies husband and wife.
According to another report, seeing a mill signifies sorrow, tightness of the chest, and headache. The interpreter must take these matters and the condition of the dreamer into consideration. A mill grinding human beings instead of wheat is not a good dream. It heralds collective deaths accompanied by sedition and corruption.
