Moon

In a dream, seeing the moon is interpreted as the head of state and the dignitaries of the state. Whoever sees that he holds the moon in his hand as though it were his own property will become a high-ranking state official. Whoever sees that he is fighting with the moon will fall out with the men of the government. To see oneself as the moon, or sitting in the place of the moon, is a sign of attaining a high position.

To see the moon in darkness or in a place other than the sky in a dream signifies that the men of state will encounter difficulties in certain matters.

According to Ibn Sirin: To see the moon perfectly round, in the state of the full moon, is interpreted as the death of a great man. To see the moon split into two parts and then become whole again is a sign that a great man will fall ill and then recover. To see the moon, while full, colliding with another star signifies that the people of two countries will wage war against one another. Sometimes it is also a sign that two dignitaries of the state are in rivalry with one another.

According to Jabir al-Maghribi: A man who sees the moon beside him or in his hand will marry. If the moon is in the form of a crescent, the person whom he will marry is of a lower class than himself. If it is in the form of a complete circle, that person is of noble birth and of a higher class than himself. To see the moon shining brightly inside one’s house signifies that one will be brought to happiness by a great statesman.

To see the moon rising or emerging from another house in a dream is proof that one will receive goodness and benefit from someone. To see the moon eclipsed is a sign that the country and the dignitaries of the country will suffer certain difficulties. To see the moon rise as a crescent or gradually grow signifies that a child has been born in that country who will later become its head of state. To see a moon rising in the sky and show it to others signifies that the appointed time of the person who sees it is drawing near.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: Seeing the moon in a dream is interpreted in twelve ways: a president, a statesman, a friend, a chief, a man, a father, a mother, a husband, a wife, a master, goodness and benefit, and a servant. According to the manner in which the dream is seen, the appropriate one of these is selected and the dream is interpreted.

According to Ibn Fudalah: In a dream, the moon is sometimes interpreted as a male child. To see a moon emerge from one’s own bosom is a sign that one will have a male child. To see that moon gradually grow and rise into the sky signifies that the child who is born will become a good son when he grows up and will achieve success in his work.

To see the moon together with the sun in a dream is a sign that one will receive goodness and benefit from two great persons. To see the sun fighting with the moon is a sign that two great persons cannot tolerate one another and that they will fall out.
