To see a mountain in a dream is interpreted as authority, property, leadership, attaining victory, and finding ease. Being upon the mountain signifies drawing near to one of high rank; ascending the mountain and reaching its summit signifies entering under the protection of a lofty ruler or attaining a great office; descending from the mountain signifies losing position and rank; falling from the mountain signifies losing esteem among the people and deficiency in religion; injuring or breaking a limb by falling signifies harm that will occur; the mountain being torn from its place signifies the collapse of a state or a mentality and the dispersal of its people; the mountain trembling signifies the awakening of the nation; cracks appearing along with the trembling signify weakness in governance; and the mountain burning is an indication of the death of the head of state.

Green trees and every kind of beauty seen upon a mountain in a dream signify the good-intentioned efforts of those in authority, or a gift and attention that will reach the person from the state; seeing the mountain bare and consisting only of earth signifies that the rulers are of no benefit to society; seeing the mountain covered with thorns and bushes signifies a biting administration whose only effect upon society is harm; and seeing wild animals upon the mountain signifies rulers who perform harmful acts in the ranks of the state or damage public property.

Walking about upon a mountain in a dream signifies benefiting from the beauties and blessings of the country in which one resides, or acquiring knowledge concerning administration and the state; the mountain giving birth to a mouse and the like signifies that things expected will prove empty; the mountain giving birth to a boy signifies that a beneficial and capable ruler will come to that country; its giving birth to a girl signifies that the country will see abundance and prosperity; snow or rain falling upon the mountain signifies goodness for the state and nation; and stones, mud, and the like falling from it signify calamities that the state and nation will face. To see a mountain in a dream symbolizes bad luck and a monotonous working life.

A mountain seen in a dream is generally interpreted as goodness. Whoever sees himself climbing a mountain, by exerting great effort and through his own strength, will attain the things he has set his heart upon. Rolling or falling down from a mountain means departing, because of one’s own mistakes, from the rank one attained through one’s own efforts. Gazing upon mountains means that you will be rewarded because you have resolved certain matters that were difficult to overcome.

Seeing a mountain or climbing a mountain is a sign that you will rise and accomplish very great successes. You will possess esteem and wealth and win everyone’s appreciation. It is interpreted as an important or superior person, a great undertaking, uniqueness, and an ideal. If the person reaches the summit, his success will be extraordinary.

A mountain is interpreted in a dream as difficulty. Seeing oneself climbing a great mountain in a dream, if one has reached the summit, is an indication that one will overcome all difficulties in life. Seeing that, while climbing the mountain, one encounters many hardships, that one’s foot slips in some places and one falls one or two meters downward, or that one remains in danger of rolling entirely down the mountain, is an indication that one will encounter many difficulties in life and will secure one’s livelihood only with hardship.

If, in the middle of the mountain, one feels unable to climb any farther and wishes to turn back, this is an indication that, because one has failed in one’s trade, office, or a particular business if one is a tradesman, one continually changes professions. Danyal (peace be upon him) said: Seeing oneself upon a mountain in a dream and supposing it to be one’s own property signifies a person of exalted rank.

If a person sees any one of the mountains of Arafat, Judi, Uhud, or Tur in a dream, it signifies that he will serve the scholars and the righteous. Seeing the mountain walking together with oneself in a dream is interpreted as a war likely to break out. Likewise, seeing the mountain rise toward the heavens and stand above the heads of the people signifies fear and severity that will encompass all human beings.

Seeing a mountain upon which there are no plants or water in a dream is interpreted as an unbelieving and rebellious king. If plants grow upon the mountain and its waters flow abundantly, then that dream signifies a devout ruler of the state.

Seeing the mountain burning or falling in a dream signifies the death of a glorious, exalted person of rank, or that the sultan will prevail over and destroy that person. Seeing that, upon reaching halfway up the mountain one is climbing, one remains there, unable either to descend or ascend, signifies that one will die halfway through one’s life.

If a person sees a mountain descending from the sky upon a city in a dream, it signifies that a new governor will come to that city.

The venerable Ibn Sirin said: Seeing oneself upon a mountain in a dream is interpreted as rebellion against one’s parents and an approaching death. Sitting upon the mountain signifies his death. Being at the foot of the mountain signifies the duration of his life and existence.

Seeing the mountains come to life and afterward return once more to their former state signifies a severe fear that will befall the people of that region. Yet Almighty Allah will afterward remove that fear from them. At times, the mountains and high hills seen in a dream also signify intense sorrow, shouting and lamentation, anguish, and unemployment.

Imam Nabulsi said: Seeing a mountain, and seeing the mountain walking, in a dream signifies severity and fear, and sometimes, for a traveler, drowning in the sea. Seeing the mountain rise and become like a cloud in the sky is an indication that an event requiring punishment will arise.

Seeing oneself leaning against a mountain in a dream signifies relying upon a powerful king; seeing oneself sitting in the shade of the mountain signifies seeking refuge under the protection of a king and attaining comfort.

At times, mountains seen in a dream signify kings, commanders, the righteous, and scholars. Sometimes the mountain is an indication of the possessor of religion and the world. Seeing the mountain sink into the earth in a dream is a sign of the death of the ruler of that place or one of its great men.

Kirmani said: Seeing oneself possessing a mountain in a dream signifies becoming the companion of a person hard of heart and great in renown. Seeing oneself circling around a mountain is interpreted as affiliating oneself with a great person.

Seeing oneself emerge from a steep ascent into a level place in a dream signifies doing good and bestowing charity upon orphans and the sick. At times, the mountain signifies the harbor where ships anchor and wait; and sometimes it indicates the person in whom one takes refuge and under whose protection one enters, such as a master or a mother.

Whoever sees himself entering a cave in a mountain in a dream attains security, stability, and dignity, and places his reliance upon his Lord alone. Seeing oneself come to the mountain by a straight road signifies attaining one’s purpose and desire.

Selimi said: Seeing a mountain in a dream is a sign of great fortune. Whoever sees himself climbing a mountain will set out on a journey for a profitable and lucrative undertaking.

If a person sees himself worshipping upon grass in the mountain, it signifies attaining the pleasure of the Most Glorious and Exalted Allah. Seeing oneself perform ablution from a springing water at the foot of the mountain and then pray signifies purification from sins and purity of heart.

A person who sees a mountain in his dream is generally interpreted as an important or superior person, a great undertaking, uniqueness, and an ideal. Whoever sees himself climbing a mountain will attain his purpose through his own strength and effort.

Ibn Sirin: Seeing a mountain in a dream signifies a great office, an honorable person, or difficulty. Climbing the mountain signifies rising; descending signifies falling; and being upon the mountain signifies protection and steadfastness.

With the right perspective, it can signify restoring balance, recovery, and developing a new understanding.

Uncertainty, indecision, or a tendency to take on excessive burden may be observed.
