Pillar and Pillar Base

Sayyid Sulayman: Ibn Sirin said: Seeing a column, that is, a pillar, in a dream is interpreted as a straightforward person who keeps his word. According to one narration, it is also interpreted as a strong-spoken and faithful person. Striking someone with a pillar for the purpose of warning him indicates that you will grieve that person with your influential words. Whoever sees himself leaning upon a pillar will rely upon a man whose word is trustworthy, whose inner self and outer self are alike.

Kirmani said that whoever sees a pillar of iron in his hand in a dream is interpreted as a person firm in his decision and steadfast in his work. Again, according to Kirmani’s interpretation, whoever sees his pillar being taken from his hand indicates that his strength will diminish.

Whoever loads a pillar upon his back and carries it to another place in a dream will undertake a task by making use of his strength. Regardless of what material it is made from, a pillar is interpreted as Islam.

Ja‘far al-Sadiq interprets the dream of a pillar as a person truthful and upright in word and deed, an acceptable and truthful word, and a high rank. Whoever sees a pillar bending, if he is a governor, will lose his initiative in the eyes of his officials. His word will no longer be heeded.

If the dreamer is a slave, he will be sold by his master; if he is an official, his superior will turn against him. If he is neither of these, his seeing this dream indicates that his affairs will deteriorate.

Jabir al-Maghribi interprets the pillar as the master of the house.

According to some interpreters, a pillar made of wood indicates the opening of fortune. Seeing in a dream a beautiful, ornamented, and magnificent pillar made of wood is interpreted as attaining great ranks through persons connected with the state. Seeing an evil condition in the pillar is interpreted as the exact opposite of the interpretation given above.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
