The bending or falling of the pillar seen in a dream signifies disobedience to a command and doing as one pleases; throwing the pillar into a well, burying it, or raising it to the sky signifies the strangeness of the conditions of the people in the place to which that pillar belongs; and the collapse of the pillar signifies death for a sick person.

If the pillar seen in a dream is in the middle of the road, it is an obstacle. If it is beside the road, it indicates that troubles will be resolved quickly. Climbing the pillar is also success.

Seeing a pillar in a dream is interpreted as a person faithful to his word and upright. According to one account, it is also interpreted as a strong and manly person. Whoever sees himself prodding someone with a pillar speaks to him an influential word. Whoever sees himself leaning upon a pillar relies upon a man sound in essence and speech.

Whoever sees a pillar in his dream becomes faithful in his work and in his word. Whoever sees a pillar being taken from his hand loses his strength. Whoever sees himself carrying a pillar upon his back, bearing it and taking it to another place, begins a work by making use of his strength.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: Seeing a pillar is interpreted in three ways: a man faithful and upright in his word and work, a true and good word, and a high rank. Whoever sees a pillar bent and lying on its side will have his affairs disrupted. A wooden pillar is interpreted as a person of great standing and repute.

Whoever sees in his dream a beautiful, ornamented, and perfect wooden pillar rises to a great station. Seeing an ugly condition in the pillar is evidence that these things will slip from one’s hands.

According to Kirmānī: Everything that is upright, whatever it may be, is interpreted as Islam. The pillar signifies the master of the house. If the pillar is of wood, thick, and strong, it indicates that the master of the house is strong and wealthy. Seeing a pillar of iron or marble signifies an increase in strength and prosperity.

Seeing a second pillar beside a pillar in a dream indicates harmony and good living in family life. Whoever sees a pillar erected from the earth toward the sky, whose top cannot be seen, meets one of the scholars of Islam. Whoever sees himself standing while leaning upon that pillar finds comfort by relying upon a learned man. Whoever sees himself climbing that pillar but unable to ascend it strives to rise, yet does not succeed. Whoever sees himself climbing and reaching the top of that pillar attains goodness and benevolence.

Seeing many pillars extending from the earth toward the sky in a dream indicates that there are many scholars in that place who will strengthen and spread Islam.

Seeing a pillar fall in a dream signifies, if it is of wood, the death of the master of the house; and if it is of marble, the death of the governor or judge who is the notable of that land, or of a great person loved by the people.

If a person sees in a dream that he strikes someone with a pillar, or is struck with one, it indicates that he will utter a word that will shame the one who is beaten. If, when striking him, he wounds one of his sides, the one who strikes will cause harm to the one who is struck.

Whoever sees the pillar bending, if he is an official, the man serving under him acts contrary to the commands he has given and does not obey him. A mosque or masjid pillar seen bent and on the verge of falling signifies the servants of that mosque. If the bending pillar is a church pillar, it indicates the death of an unbeliever, a person of innovation, or someone such as a monk or priest.
