Relief

To see oneself rejoicing and feeling relief in a dream is interpreted as glad tidings. To see oneself go out into the countryside in a dream, wandering about while feeling inwardly at ease and relieved, indicates that one’s Hereafter shall be illumined and that the Almighty God (C.C.) has purified one from one’s sins. If the relief in one’s heart turns into sorrow shortly thereafter, it is a sign that there is deficiency in one’s worship and that one must repent.

The relief felt in a dream signifies the removal of an evil condition in one’s life, such as the recovery of a sick person or the return of a traveler who is abroad, and indicates that one shall receive news of which one will rejoice. If, after receiving news of a person’s death, one learns that he is alive, rejoices, and feels relief in one’s heart, this indicates that one of the difficult affairs one has in this world shall be put right, or that a sick person, if one has one, shall recover; and if one has an affair with the government, it shall be settled.

According to some: Relief and joy in a dream are not good. Whoever sees himself relieved and joyful in his dream shall fall into sorrow.

According to Ibn Sirin: Whoever sees that he has been relieved by another person shall grieve on account of that person.

According to Kirmani: For one who is alive, a dream of relief and joy signifies sorrow; for the dead, it is glad tidings and goodness. According to certain interpreters, rejoicing in a dream indicates that blessings shall be bestowed by Allah (C.C.), the Exalted.

According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: To see oneself rejoicing in a dream and attaining relief without cause indicates that the appointed time of the dreamer’s death is approaching.

According to another narration: Whoever sees himself exceedingly joyful and inwardly opened shall repent if he is sinful, and shall become a Muslim if he is without faith. If the dreamer is in distress, his distress shall be removed and he shall attain comfort. Relief in a dream, when it is due to glad tidings such as the release of a prisoner or the recovery of a sick person, points to matters that require rejoicing and to fair conditions.

If, in a dream, news that in reality contains sadness and grief is conveyed to a person in the form of news that requires relief and joy, this dream indicates that the sorrow which has befallen that person on account of crime, murder, or religion shall depart, and that he shall attain gain; or that his gain shall be spent for the sake of religion, blood-money, debts, and the like, and shall be transferred to such matters.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of inner world and awareness, work and responsibility, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
