Ship’s Rope and Chain

To see a ship’s rope and chain in a dream is interpreted as safety, deliverance, strength, and endurance.

To see the ship’s chain or rope as new and sound in a dream indicates that the means of safety and deliverance have been obtained; to see that the rope or chain is old or rotten indicates that the thing which the dreamer believes to be the way of deliverance is rotten; and to see the rope or chain break indicates that the thing upon which he relied has slipped from his hand.

According to some interpreters, seeing a rope and a ship’s chain in a dream also signifies a journey. Whoever sees himself buying a ship’s chain or rope, or somehow obtaining one of them, will set out on a journey.

If the ship’s rope or chain seen in a dream is long, the journey will likewise be long; if it is short, the journey will be short. Whoever sees that he possesses a long, new, and strong chain or rope will attain safety on the journey and return благополучно. The rope and chain being old is the opposite of this dream.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of journey and change, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
