Ship’s Rudder
Sayyid Sulayman: A ship’s rudder is interpreted as the Sacred Law, Islam, guidance, victory, safety, danger, gain, and loss.
A person who sees in a dream that the rudder of the ship upon which he is riding has broken will suffer loss in his affairs, or his religion will become corrupted. He will be grieved in this world and the Hereafter. The repair of the rudder signifies deliverance from loss, finding the right path, and once again possessing religion and faith.
According to some interpreters, the ship’s rudder is the symbol of the government that administers all the workers and officials. The rudder functioning properly signifies the orderliness of the government’s affairs.
As for seeing in a dream that the rudder does not work, this signifies the end of order and the corruption of affairs. According to another view, the ship’s rudder is interpreted as the affairs of the dreamer.
Whoever handles a ship’s rudder skillfully will find goodness and benefit in the affairs of this world and the Hereafter. To handle the rudder ineptly is the opposite of this interpretation.
If an official sees in his dream that the rudder of a ship belonging to him has broken, he will be dismissed. If he is a merchant, his affairs will deteriorate. If he is wealthy, he will suffer loss. If he is poor, he will fall into utter want. If he is ill, he will die. In sum, this dream is not auspicious.
The repair of the rudder in a dream, or its replacement with a new one, is the exact opposite of the evil interpretations given above.
According to Ibn Sirin and some interpreters, the helmsman is interpreted as the scholars and the police officials. The changing or disappearance of the rudder on a great warship indicates the death of the great Islamic scholars, or the replacement or death of police chiefs.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
