Seeing in a Dream

Sky

If a person sees himself in the first heaven, it is deemed that his appointed time has drawn near; if he sees himself in the second, he shall become a possessor of knowledge and wisdom. If he sees himself in the third, his honour and good fortune in this world shall increase. If he sees himself in the fourth, he shall draw near to the rulers and notables of the state. If he sees himself in the fifth, he shall be visited by fear and sorrow. If he sees himself in the sixth, his rank shall increase and he shall be happy. To see oneself in the seventh heaven indicates that one’s worth shall rise and that one’s life shall pass in happiness and wealth.

If one ascends to the heaven in a dream and sees its door closed, the person who saw the dream shall not attain his desire. He shall not reach any good. To see oneself not looking at the sky but bowing one’s face toward the ground is a sign that one’s affairs shall deteriorate and that one shall turn away from happiness.

To see oneself rising toward the sky in a dream is evidence that one shall undertake a long journey and see much benefit and good therein. To see that one’s head has reached the sky is a sign of success in one’s work, an increase in rank, and an increase in one’s wealth.

To hear a voice from heaven in a dream is an auspicious sign. Whoever sees himself building a structure in the sky shall soon die. To see earth and sand raining from heaven is interpreted as good if the falling substance is little, and as evil and misfortune if it is much. To see fire, scorpions, snakes, stones, and the like raining from heaven indicates that a calamity shall befall the people of that place.

Whoever sees himself hanging from a rope in the sky in a dream shall attain success and receive good. To see the gates of heaven open is a sign that one’s prayer shall be accepted, that blessed rains shall fall, and that the crops shall be abundant.

Whoever sees himself ascending to heaven by a ladder or by some other means shall attain a gift and blessing from his friends and the officials of the government. For one who ascends to heaven without a ladder, this dream denotes fear and terror. Whoever sees himself in the sky but does not know in which heaven he is, and cannot return again to the earth, shall die shortly. Whoever sees himself in heaven but does not know when or how he came there shall enter Paradise.

To see oneself falling from heaven to earth in a dream is evil. It is in no way interpreted as good. Such a person shall certainly suffer harm. If the one who sees this dream is an official or a labourer, he shall lose his position. To see the sky covered with dark clouds and lightning flashing is a sign that great turmoil shall arise in that place. To see the clouds dispersing without causing him any harm and the sky returning to its former state indicates that he shall suffer no harm from these disturbances and that the calamity has passed.

To see the stars in the sky mingling with one another and changing their places is a sign that war shall break out among nations. To see a number of lanterns and lamps suspended in the sky, and—regarding them as the great ones and learned men of the nations—to see one of them suddenly extinguished, one should conclude that one of those great men shall die. To see many of them extinguished is interpreted as the outbreak of an epidemic such as plague or cholera, or the death of one of the great ones.

To see the sky split in two and light flowing forth from between it in a dream is to attain mercy and forgiveness. The possessor of this dream shall be rewarded with the blessings of this world and the Hereafter. To see many lights extending from heaven toward the earth and illuminating those places indicates that the Almighty God shall bestow generosity upon the people of that land and cause those people to be favoured with His divine grace.

To see the sky breaking apart and scattering indicates that a great revolution shall occur, or that a divine calamity shall arise which will turn the world upside down.

To see oneself flying toward the sky while riding upon a bird in a dream indicates that one shall rise in one’s work in a blessed manner; if one is an official, one shall be promoted; if one is a labourer, one’s wages shall increase; if one is a merchant, one’s earnings shall become plentiful; if one is a housewife, one’s sustenance shall increase; if one is ill, one shall recover; and if one is in a foreign land, one shall return to one’s homeland.

To see the colour of the sky as white in a dream signifies blessing and bounty. To see it green signifies good and abundance. To see it yellow signifies illness. To see it red is an omen of war and bloodshed. To see it black signifies famine and hardship. To see the sky constantly changing from one colour to another is a sign that great confusion shall arise in that place.

To see great red marks in the sky in the form of broad lines indicates that the ruler of that land shall make successful deeds and bring happiness to the people. To see wheat, flour, and similar things raining from heaven indicates that blessing and very great bounty shall be attained. To see certain lamps burning in the sky is a sign that a great multitude of people in the world shall fight and die.

To see in a dream that the sky has descended to the earth is interpreted as a just elder taking power and governing the nation. To see a road opened from the earth toward the sky indicates that there shall be many who go on pilgrimage that year. To see things such as ropes and chains let down from heaven toward the earth is understood as the ropes extended by the Almighty God to save His servants; these are held to signify religion, Islam, the Sunnah, the obligatory duties, and the necessary obligations. If the dreamer clings to one of these ropes, it is a sign that he shall cross the Bridge of Sirat with ease. To see many people clinging to and holding fast to these ropes is regarded as a sign that the people have surrendered their souls to the true religion, Islam.

To see a ladder erected from the earth toward the sky in a dream is interpreted as attaining guidance and being upon the path of God. Whoever sees himself ascending this ladder shall attain safety. To see that one is invited to ascend to heaven but does not accept it indicates that one has turned away from the commands of the Book and the Sunnah and from guidance. Whoever, while ascending toward heaven by this ladder, or while clinging to a rope suspended from heaven, slips with his foot or loses his grip and falls below, has strayed from the path of guidance and truth and has entered upon the way of corruption, rebellion, and sin.

To see pillars extending from the earth toward the sky, and to wish to climb them but be unable to do so, is not auspicious. These pillars are interpreted as men of religion. To embrace one of these pillars or to climb it and strive to ascend to heaven is a sign of attaining mercy through the spiritual exertion of the men of religion. Pillars that extend from the earth toward the sky and slowly rise are interpreted as the prayers offered by the people of that land as a gift to the acceptance of God Almighty. If these pillars are able to reach the sky, it indicates that the prayers have been accepted.

If a person sees in his dream a pillar rising from the place where he is until it reaches the sky, this dream is a sign that his prayers have been accepted. If the pillar stops midway, it means that his prayer has not been accepted.
