To see oneself asleep in a dream is a sign of heedlessness. To sleep, or to wish to sleep, signifies laziness and unemployment; sleep is an indication of goodness and deliverance only for those who have fear and anxiety, and for others it signifies regret and sorrow.

To see in a dream that one is sleeping signifies slackness in obedience and worship; for an unmarried girl, it signifies marriage. The sleeping of a righteous and learned servant denotes a blessed journey, striving and exertion, withdrawing into seclusion, and turning away from the world.

To see in a dream that a person is sleeping on his back signifies the strength and authority he will attain in worldly matters. Sleep also signifies the removal of grief and sorrow. To sleep upon one’s face is not good. For unmarried girls, sleep signifies marriage. Some interpreters said that sleep signifies the end of sin. Other interpreters said that sleep signifies intoxication, which veils the intellect, while some said that it is illness.

If a frightened person sees in a dream that he is sleeping, he will become secure from that which he fears. Some interpreters said that sleep signifies being heedless of affairs. Sleeping upon one’s back signifies heedlessness of one’s work and counsels, humiliation and death, and at times separation from one’s occupation and the completion of affairs. Sleeping upon one’s side signifies goodness, or illness and death.

If a person sees in a dream that he is lying on his right and left sides beneath many trees, he will have abundant offspring. Lying upon one’s belly signifies acquiring land and denotes wealth and children.
