Spinning Thread

If a woman sees in a dream that she is spinning thread, someone who has been lost to her will return. If a man sees that he is spinning cotton or linen and, by this state, resembles women, that man will fall into abasement and disgrace, or he will perform an act that is not approved. If the thread is fine, it signifies a difficult and laborious undertaking; and if the thread is thick, it signifies a journey in which there is aid and victory.

If a person sees a woman spinning cotton, that woman will betray her husband. Whoever sees in a dream that he is spinning wool, hair, or anything else that men spin will undertake a journey and attain goodness. Whoever sees that he has undone the thread he spun will break his covenant and renege on his word.

Seeing a woman spinning thread in a dream signifies contentment, following the sayings and conduct of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), keeping one’s affairs sound, and devoting oneself to goodness. Seeing one who spins cotton and the like, whether male or female, signifies a guest.

Ibn Sirin: Spinning thread in a dream indicates making preparations for a journey, receiving a guest, or fighting an enemy. Spinning cotton signifies returning to one’s innate nature, while spinning wool signifies lawful sustenance. For a woman, spinning thread indicates her husband’s return from a journey. The unraveling of spun thread signifies reneging on a promise or deceit. Spinning black or colored thread may sometimes signify sorrow.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
