To see the sun in a dream signifies the ruler, caliph, father, wealth, property, a beautiful woman, abundance and prosperity, and the principal cause and elements that sustain life. Possessing the sun, being upon it, embracing it, and the like signify a beneficial relation to be established with the state and assuming responsibility in proportion thereto.

To see in a dream that the sun has risen in the house signifies marrying one of one’s relatives. The sun descending to the earth signifies that the people will benefit from the government; the sun burning signifies harm to come from the administration of the state or from one of its officials; and the rays of the sun covering everywhere signify general abundance and joy.

Speaking with the sun in a dream signifies rank and office; the sun rising from the west signifies committing a shameful deed or a sign announcing great events; and the sun rising brightly and setting again brightly in the west signifies good for the people of that region.

The setting of the sun in a dream signifies the time when a lifetime has reached its evening; the sun sometimes signifies one who possesses strength and power, yet also tyranny and injustice.

What does it mean to see the sun in a dream? It signifies the birth of a male child; a woman carrying the sun in her dream signifies that she will marry. It is a sign of wealth and happiness. Watching the sunset is an indication that one must think carefully before making certain decisions.

What does seeing the sun in a dream mean? It is interpreted as the great men of state. Seeing a darkness upon the sun signifies that a great person of the state has committed an act unbefitting him. Whoever sees that he has held the sun in the sky with his hand, made it his possession, stood beside the sun, or emitted light like the sun shall attain the highest offices if he is qualified for such a position. If the dreamer is one of the common people, he shall attain goodness and happiness according to his station. Whoever sees that he has held the sun in his hand, but that it has neither radiance nor light and is pitch-black, shall be delivered from grief, sorrow, and distress. Some interpreters interpret the sun as the mother.

Whoever sees the bright sun rising in his own house shall marry a woman from among his relatives. Whoever sees it rising in another house shall marry the daughter of another family. To see the sun disappearing beneath dark clouds signifies the death of one of the great men.

To see oneself speaking with the sun signifies that one will receive a kindness from a great person of the state and attain an honour. To see two suns colliding with one another is interpreted as two nations waging war against each other. To see the sun rising and ascending in the sky while bright signifies the glory of the great person of the state; if the dreamer is ill, it signifies recovery; and if he has someone abroad, it signifies that person’s safe return.

To see the sun rise again after it has set signifies that an affair from which one had no hope will be put right; if the dreamer is a merchant, it signifies that his merchandise will be sold, or that he will renew his marriage contract. If the sun rises from the opposite direction, it is a sign that an affair will befall him and that he will be bewildered. To see the sun revolving around the breast signifies that the word of the great person of the state will prevail everywhere. According to what interpreters such as Imam Nabulsi, Ibn Kathir, and Nafi have accepted: since seeing the sun in sleep signifies great persons of the state, such as the head of state or prime minister, every change seen in the sun signifies a change that will concern all people, not the dreamer alone.

To see the sun rise again in a dream signifies the birth of a person who will later become a great man; to see it situated exactly in the middle of the sky signifies the greatness of the government; and to see it setting is interpreted as the death of one of the great men. To see the sun bright signifies the health, justice, and strength of the great person of the age; and to see it exceedingly bright signifies that the affairs of government are proceeding with ease.

To see the sun covered by various clouds signifies difficulty in administration and that the great ones conduct the government with hardship; to see the sun red signifies that the great men of state govern through oppression; to see black or nearly black spots upon the sun signifies wavering in political circumstances; to see the sun wholly black signifies that the influence of the state has ceased to prevail; and to see it of a colour near green signifies that the men of state are devout and persistent in worship.

To see two suns in the sky signifies that friendship and peace continue between two neighbouring governments. To see the two suns colliding signifies that two nations will wage war against one another. Whoever sees the sun descend from the sky and come beside him, or sees himself go beside the sun, shall draw near to the great men of state. Whoever sees the sun come to him and enter his bosom or arm, or sees himself enter into the sun, shall attain a great rank or gift from a great person of the state.

Whoever sees himself as the sun in a dream, if he is in the service of the state, shall attain a higher position; and if he is one of the common people, it is interpreted that he shall become very wealthy or, by studying, become a learned man. Whoever remains beneath the sun’s intense heat is considered to have encountered evil. Whoever feels the sun’s caressing and pleasant warmth shall receive assistance from his elders. (To see the sun growing ever larger signifies that one’s property will increase and that one’s word will carry greater weight.

According to another narration: The sun seen in a dream is the father, a man of state, or a beautiful woman. Whoever sees himself as the sun shall attain a great estate in proportion to the sun’s light. Whoever reaches the sun hanging by a chain shall become governor of a province and act justly there. Whoever sees himself sitting upon the sun or drawing near to it shall attain bounty, property, and power from the men of state.

To see the sun’s radiance illuminate the whole earth from east to west signifies that, if the dreamer is qualified, he shall become master of the earth and possess knowledge by which he will be remembered throughout the world. Whoever sees the pure and bright sun rising upon him, if he is a governor, it signifies strength and power in his governorship. If he is one of the common people, he shall attain lawful earnings. If she is a woman, she shall obtain from her husband something that pleases her heart.

Whoever sees the sun rising in his house shall marry. If the dreamer is a woman, she too shall marry and attain happiness in this world. If the dreamer is a merchant, he shall profit in his commerce. Whoever sees the sun say things to him shall be appointed to a high position. Whoever sees the moon and sun say things to him and go together with them shall die. Whoever sees the sun present in one place and absent from another, if he is at war, shall attain fame and renown. If he is not at war, he shall learn a craft. (Whoever sees the sun rising above his head shall attain a great affair and worldly wealth; whoever sees it rising only upon his two feet signifies cultivating fruits, grains, and the like, and that his lawful livelihood in this world shall become abundant. To see fire issuing from the sun and burning the stars around it signifies that the head of state will expel those around him. The redness of the sun signifies corruption in his realm. If one sees the sun disappear, he shall bring to an end the affair he desires, whether good or evil.

If one sees the rays of the sun diminished in a dream, the majesty of the great person of the state shall be diminished by the measure of that deficiency. If one sees the sun rising brightly in the east and setting with the same brightness, this dream signifies good for the people of that city. It is an indication that they shall lead a good life. Whoever sees the sun rise within his house and illuminate every part of it, it signifies honour, dignity, renown, and rank.

Whoever sees the sun rise from the west shall be disgraced among the people. If there is a secret between the dreamer and another person, that secret shall be disclosed; sometimes, a hidden matter shall come to light. Whoever reaches the radiance of the sun, it signifies treasure and great wealth. Allah Most High shall bestow goodness upon that person.

To see the sun rise from the east and again set in the east signifies goodness and fine works for all people. Seeing the sun signifies, for some persons, the birth of a male child to the dreamer. For some it is interpreted as becoming unemployed; for others, as the dreamer’s child falling ill, as violence befalling his child, or as pain in his eyes. As for one who wishes to conceal his affair, this dream signifies that his affair is proper and proceeding well.

To see the sun descend upon one’s bed and frighten one signifies a severe illness. To see the sun do something beneficial for oneself signifies abundance, ease, and comfort. To see the sun in a wretched condition signifies, with respect to all people, haste in their affairs, and often blindness or the death of the dreamer’s child. If a person sees many suns surrounding one another, it signifies good for travellers and severity and death for the sick.

To see the sun itself give one something, or to see it take something from oneself, is not good. Whoever sees the sun and moon gathered beside him with their light and radiance shall marry a beautiful woman. The sun rising from the west signifies property. Some interpreters said that it signifies the dreamer’s disgrace; some, that he will repent; some, that his appointed time is approaching; and some, that it signifies an event that will occur upon the earth. To see a cloud or something else covering the sun, causing an eclipse, signifies that the head of state will fall ill or that his condition will deteriorate. If one sees the cloud disperse, anxiety, illness, and an evil condition shall depart. However, whoever sees himself walking upon the sun shall undertake a journey. If one sees the sun fall upon the ground or into the sea, burn with fire, lose its radiance and become dark, disappear from the place in the sky where it travels, or enter among a cluster of stars, one of his close relations shall die.

Whoever sees the sun eclipsed, covered by clouds, diminished in light by dust or smoke gathering upon it, or wavering in an unstable manner, it signifies that illness, anxiety, grief, severity, or an event causing a person anguish shall occur.

If the person upon whom the sun points in a dream is ill while awake, it signifies his death. If one sees the sun grow dark without cause and without being eclipsed, it signifies the oppression, unbelief, or deviation of the person represented by the sun. Whoever sees himself take the sun into his palm or bosom and possess it, or marry by means of its light, shall, if qualified, receive strength and assistance and become honoured in his property; or, if the master of that house is absent, he shall return to his homeland. If a person sees himself sitting in the sun on a winter day or possessing the sun, it signifies obedience to the commands of Allah, fine garments, and recovery from illness. For whoever sees himself sitting in the sun on a summer day or possessing the sun, it signifies grief, sorrow, distress, poverty, and illnesses. Sometimes, seeing the sun signifies travelling toward the east or west.

To see the sun high in its place signifies that the dreamer’s value and renown are exalted; to see it in a place where it inclines downward from a height signifies poverty, harm, grief, and distress. The multitude of suns signifies innovation, fear, and stagnation of livelihood. If the suns are many but their light is not great, it signifies that those possessing strength and authority will unite in certain matters.

Whoever sees himself eating the sun shall benefit from the sun, and through it shall acquire useful property. Whoever specifically sees the sun burning him shall perish in the pursuit of affection and love, through the promise of a beloved with a beautiful face unlike any other. Sometimes, this dream signifies that the dreamer’s creed shall become corrupted.

A woman carrying the sun in a dream is interpreted as her marrying or bearing a beautiful child. Seeing the moon, sun, and stars signifies, on account of the famous story of Joseph (peace be upon him), falling into tribulation, entering prison, and being envied by one’s family and relatives, followed by acquiring property and power or reaching an outcome in one’s religion. Sometimes, this dream signifies fear and severity.

The sun rising from the west in a dream signifies fear and shouting, the head of state oppressing his people, and departing from justice. Sometimes, this dream signifies that a person in a foreign land will return from the place where he is in sorrow and grief. At times it signifies changing one’s religion or that a repentant person will commit evil deeds.

If a person sees the sun burn vineyards and gardens, or sees the heat of the sun harm people, it signifies illnesses, oppression to be committed by eminent persons, or the rising of food prices. Ibn Sirin: Seeing the sun in a dream signifies a great king, caliph, father, prince, commander, gold, or a beautiful woman. To see oneself transformed into the sun signifies attaining a dominion as extensive as the light seen in the dream. To see oneself holding the sun in one’s hand signifies obtaining power and wealth through one of the government. To see oneself wearing the sun around one’s neck as a necklace signifies gaining a place in the senate or assembly. To approach the sun or sit within it signifies obtaining power, wealth, and support; and, if qualified, it signifies that one’s power will extend between the two horizons seen in the dream, or that one will acquire knowledge together with fame.

To see oneself possessing the sun signifies that one’s word will be heard and respected by those in authority. If a person possessing authority sees the sun bright and clear in a dream, it signifies that his authority will increase or that he will assist someone in leadership; otherwise, it signifies living happily and earning lawful property. If a woman sees such a dream, she will be happy in her marriage and see from her husband things that please her. The sun rising within one’s house signifies being appointed to an important political office, or that one must be attentive to one’s relations with a person possessing authority, or marriage. The sun illuminating the entire house signifies honour, esteem, office, and renown.

For one employed by the state or army, seeing the sun beside him signifies that he will betray his superior or that his condition will worsen.
