Thirst

Seeing thirst in a dream signifies adopting the morals of people who stir up sedition and spread corruption, corruption in religion, the need to renew one’s marriage contract, and stagnation in sowing and cultivation.

Seeing oneself thirsty in a dream is interpreted as weariness and hardship, and as corruption in religion and worldly affairs. According to Kirmani, whoever sees himself thirsty in a dream pursues something whose nature he himself does not know.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, a dream of thirst is interpreted as a deficiency in religion. Whoever sees himself thirsty and wishing to drink from a river, yet not drinking, and sees that he did not drink, will be delivered from sorrow and grief. According to some interpreters, thirst in a dream indicates a severe need.

Seeing oneself thirsty in a dream, seeking water in order to drink but unable to find any, signifies that one will not succeed in the work in which one is engaged. The dream of one who sees himself thirsty during sleep because of a cause that necessitated his thirst cannot be interpreted, for it is ahlâm (a dream without interpretation).

According to another report: Thirst in a dream signifies corruption in religion. If a thirsty person sees that he wishes to drink water from a river but is unable to drink, he will be overcome by sadness and grief. If he sees that drinking water is his greatest desire yet he is unable to drink, or that he is standing beside a river, a spring, or a well but cannot reach the water, this indicates that he will not attain the thing he desires.

Suffering thirst in a dream indicates adopting the morals of those who cause sedition and corruption. For through the sedition they have stirred up, they have been barred from the Pool of Kawthar on the Day of Resurrection.

Seeing oneself thirsty in a dream indicates that the dreamer needs to marry. Thirst in a dream indicates stagnation in the affairs of wealth, fields, and farmers. At times it indicates poverty, stagnation in the business of merchants, and longing for someone who is absent.

Ibn Sirin: Seeing thirst in a dream indicates stagnation in affairs, stagnation in the real-estate market, and the inability to sell the produce of farms. Thirst also signifies poverty, stagnation, an economic crisis, or longing for a beloved, desiring to be together with that person, and missing that person. It may also indicate corruption in religion. If a thirsty person seeks water but does not find it, this signifies that he will be delivered from a calamity. Seeing oneself standing thirsty before a spring or well, unable to drink or reach it, indicates that one will not attain one’s goal. Thirst is also interpreted as moral corruption or the need to marry in order to preserve one’s virginity.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
