Being Blind

To see blindness in a dream is interpreted as calamity. Whoever sees in his dream that he has become blind shall come into a great inheritance. To see in a dream that one leads a blind man from one place to another by taking him by the hand signifies that, having discovered what his enemies think of him, he rectifies his condition accordingly.

According to Ibn Sirin: Whoever sees in his dream that he has become blind fulfills all the conditions of Islam and assists a poor man. To see in a dream that one’s eyes have been opened signifies gratitude and repentance. For a woman to see that she has become blind signifies that her love for her husband has increased.

To see in one’s dream that all the members of the household are blind, while only one’s own eyes are open, signifies that one’s family and relatives are not upon the right path, that they are all pursuing the unlawful, and that one must lead them to guidance. To see in a dream that one of one’s eyes is blind is a warning from Allah (C.C.) that one has strayed from the right path.

According to another narration: To become blind in a dream signifies religious deviation, attaining a great inheritance from one’s relatives, and becoming wealthy. Whoever sees that he has become blind shall become rich. Whoever sees that he has become blind shall forget the Noble Qur’an. If a person sees in a dream that someone has blinded him, that person causes him to fall into error. If an unbeliever sees in a dream that another person has blinded him, that person will abandon his unbelief. Blindness is a poor man who harms his religion by engaging in certain acts on account of poverty.

If an unbeliever sees in a dream that he has become blind, grief, harm, sorrow, and distress will befall him. Whoever sees in a dream that he has become blind and has wrapped himself in a new garment shall die. Whoever sees in a dream that he has become blind shall be spoken of with praise and shall keep his word. Sometimes the interpretation of this dream, on account of the accounts of the Prophets Isaac and Jacob (A.S.), is that the dreamer shall attain knowledge and wisdom.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has become blind and has turned his back toward the qiblah, it signifies that he is in a state of indication. Whoever sees in a dream that both his eyes are blind, it signifies that he is a shameless person. Whoever sees in a dream that his eye has become blind shall become blind after becoming wealthy, or become wealthy after poverty. Or he shall lose property, a child, or a precious member of his family and shall no longer see him. Sometimes blindness signifies error; and sometimes, for those devoted to worship, it signifies regarding the world as justified, looking upon the world with an evil eye, and turning one’s back upon the world.

For a stranger, blindness in a dream signifies that he shall never return to his homeland. For a person who is imprisoned, blindness signifies deliverance. The becoming blind in a dream of one who has a desire and wish signifies that he shall not attain his desire.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, work and responsibility, health and body, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
