Knotting

In a dream, tying a knot in a thread or rope denotes contracts and agreements; being unable to untie a knot denotes vexation; untying it denotes deliverance from sorrow and grief; and another person untying the knot denotes help to be received from someone, or trouble that will come from one in authority.

Untying a knot in a dream denotes the attainment of the desired thing or the settlement of a problem; knotting something sometimes denotes marriage, commerce, public office, and a benefit that will come.

The dream of a knot is interpreted in many ways. Whoever sees that he knots his shirt will engage in commerce. Tying a knot in a rope denotes strength in religion; knotting a handkerchief denotes acquiring a servant; and tying a knot in one’s undergarment denotes marriage.

Making a knot in thread in a dream denotes persisting in the work in which one is engaged. Seeing a knot made upon one of these things, although one did not make it oneself, denotes being subjected to difficulty by the government; and seeing a knot come undone of its own accord is a sign that one will receive ease from a place of which one had no hope.

In a dream, tying and fastening a knot around something feared to come undone and be lost is good. Tying an animal by its halter or by its foot likewise denotes خير.

According to another narration: Knotting something in a dream signifies contracting a marriage and a necklace of pearls. Tying a knot in a shirt denotes a contract in commerce; tying a knot in a rope denotes debt; tying a knot in a handkerchief denotes benefiting from a servant; tying a knot in one’s briefs denotes the bond of marriage; and tying a knot in thread signifies strengthening something one desires, such as public office or commerce.

Knotting anything in a dream is a sign of making a matter easy. If one cannot knot something he is trying to knot, it is a sign that a matter will become difficult. Untying something knotted is a sign of resolving the matter one desires.

If a person dreams that he has tied a knot in a rope, a thread, or a purse, and that he becomes distressed because he cannot untie it despite trying, and that an unknown person unties it for him, this is a sign of distress and grief that will occur. If he unties the knot, Allah (Glorious and Exalted is He) will deliver that person from sorrow and grief in a manner that does not occur to his mind. Sometimes knots also signify contracts and agreements made for the person who sees them.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
