Imam Jaʿfar al-Sadiq: Seeing a garden has seven interpretations: 1—A woman 2—A virtuous child 3—Livelihood 4—Property 5—Elevation 6—Happiness 7—A concubine

To see in a dream that you are working as a gardener indicates that you will marry a wealthy woman with whom you will be compatible and reach an understanding, and that you will take up her occupation.

The Prophet Daniel (A.S.): A garden signifies a woman. Watering the garden indicates that you will have sexual intercourse with your spouse. To see roses, basil, and bread in the garden indicates that you will have a virtuous child; planting a peach tree in the garden indicates that you will have an intelligent child who will learn knowledge and good manners.

To see in a dream that basil has sprouted in your garden and that you smell its fragrance indicates that you have a brave, learned, and intelligent child. The scent of basil signifies a child.

To see in a dream that you are in a verdant garden and eating the fruits of the garden indicates that you wish to marry a wealthy woman and will acquire property through this woman; to see that you enter an unknown garden in the autumn season and that the trees belonging to this garden are shedding their leaves indicates grief and distress.

To see in a dream that a beautiful woman is calling out to you in a garden containing mansions, flowing waters, and greenery indicates that you will be granted the houris of Paradise in the Hereafter and attain the station of the martyrs.

To see in a dream that fruits fall upon you from the trees in a garden indicates that you will become an enemy of a respected person and overcome him. To see yourself sleeping upon a tree in the garden indicates that your progeny will increase.

Allamah Majlisi: Seeing a vineyard or garden is interpreted as signifying a woman, a male child, abundance in livelihood, happiness, deliverance from distress, and property.

Kirmani: Seeing a garden indicates a wealthy, handsome, and respected person. To see yourself sitting, in the spring or summer months, in a verdant garden whose streams, flowering trees, and fruit-bearing trees delight the eye indicates that your death will be as a martyr. To see yourself gathering fruit from the garden and taking it to your house indicates that you will obtain benefit in proportion to the fruit you gathered.

Jabir al-Maghribi: A garden is interpreted, according to people’s efforts, as their occupations. To see vegetables in the garden indicates that your work will be good and your career will rise; to hear that a verdant and beautiful garden belongs to someone else and to eat of the fruit of this garden indicates that you will receive kindness from the owner of the garden in proportion to the amount eaten.

To make a new garden in a plot of land by planting saplings and to see the trees bearing fruit indicates that you will marry a wealthy woman and acquire property, blessings, and children from her. To see grapes in a verdant and beautiful garden in their season indicates that you will obtain property and rank in proportion to your efforts.

The following story is related: A man came to the Prophet Solomon (A.S.) and said, “O Prophet of Allah,” he said. “In my dream I saw an adorned garden containing various kinds of fruits. A large pig was sitting there.

They said that the garden belonged to that pig. I was greatly astonished by this. There were many pigs around, and they were eating the fruits in the garden. “The pigs are eating the fruits at the command of this large pig,” they said.

Thereupon the Prophet Solomon (A.S.) said: “In the dream you saw, the large pig signifies a tyrannical ruler; the other pigs signify the scholars who eat unlawful morsels beside him, do not disobey him, sell their religion for their worldly lives, and do not fear the punishment of Allah.”

Contemporary Scholars: A vineyard signifies a person’s private life. The cleanliness, greenness, orderliness, and maintenance of the vineyard are influential in the interpretation. Seeing a vineyard indicates that you will make a new friend; seeing that you are walking in the vineyard indicates happiness; working in the vineyard indicates that you will experience the happiness of fulfilling one of your duties.

To see in a dream that the surroundings of the vineyard are enclosed indicates that one of your wishes will not come true; to see that the surroundings of the vineyard are not enclosed indicates that there are many inadequate people around you whom you must consult.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.
