Tiflisi’s Interpretations: Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: There are four interpretations of seeing oneself washed with cold water in a dream:
1—Repentance
2—The outcome
3—Deliverance from prison
4—Safety from fear.
Washing oneself with hot water in a dream signifies grief and illness.
There are eight interpretations of washing one’s hands and face in a dream: 1—Attaining one’s desire
2—Recovery from illness
4—Religiosity
5—Going on pilgrimage to Mecca
6—Relief from grief
7—Safety from fear
8—Needs being fulfilled.
Looking upon the face of a scholar while washing one’s hands and face in a dream signifies that one will repent through the means of the scholar one saw.
Allamah Majlisi: Seeing oneself wash one’s hands and feet signifies that one will lose hope concerning something one hopes to attain, or that one will part from one’s relatives.
The Author: Washing one’s head or body with running water, the water of a pool, or seawater in a dream signifies that, if one is sorrowful, one will rejoice; if one is imprisoned, one will be released; if one is in debt, one’s debt will be paid; and if one is ill, one will recover.
Ibn Sirin: Seeing oneself wash one’s hands and face completely with perfectly clear water in a dream signifies that the thing one desires will come to pass and that one will attain one’s wish.
Seeing oneself wash one’s hands and face with dirty water, but not wash them completely, in a dream may signify that the thing one desires will not come to pass.
Seeing one’s enemy wash his hands and face completely with perfectly clear water at a fountain in a dream signifies that, if one is sorrowful, one will rejoice; if one is in fear, one will attain safety; if one is ill, one will recover; if one is in debt, one’s debt will be paid; and if one is a captive, one will attain freedom.
Seeing oneself pray without washing one’s hands and face (without performing ablution) in a dream signifies that one’s religious faith is weak and that one will lose one’s property.
Kirmani: Seeing oneself wash one’s face with both hands in a dream signifies that one will seek help from one’s friend or from the people, and will strive to gain esteem.
Seeing oneself pass wind after washing one’s hands and face (after performing ablution), thereby invalidating one’s ablution, signifies that one’s affairs will deteriorate.
Seeing oneself wash one’s own corpse signifies that one’s relatives will be freed from grief.
Seeing oneself perform ablution again after passing wind and pray, but not complete the prayer, signifies that one’s appointed time of death is approaching. In the same dream, not having prayed is better in interpretation.
Contemporary Scholars: Bathing in lukewarm water signifies that one will lead an urban life in prosperity.
Bathing in hot water signifies illness; bathing in cold water signifies that one will prevail over one’s enemy; bathing in clear water signifies felicity and happiness; and bathing in turbid water signifies material loss.
Positive Meaning
It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.
Shadow Meaning
Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, work and responsibility, health and body, spiritual signs, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
