To see a crop in a dream bears many meanings. Some interpreters have differed concerning certain of them.
The generally accepted interpretations, and those showing the greatest correctness, are as follows: To see plants, crops, and the like, whose kind and species are known, growing in a particular place and in their season, denotes children. The good and evil events occurring in that crop are attributed to them.
To see in a dream a crop in an unknown place, its ears grown and its colour turned yellow, and to see it out of season, signifies enmity against oneself and that one will find oneself facing a community who will assist one another.
To see oneself harvesting a crop signifies that a community will perish in sedition. To see oneself sowing a field, cutting its harvest, and then carrying it to the threshing-floor denotes attaining what one hopes for and receiving the reward of the good one has done. Whoever sees himself walking among reaped crops will go to the army.
According to Jabir al-Maghribi: To see oneself cutting the crop in a field signifies war and enmity. To see oneself cutting barley, especially if it is in its season, signifies goodness and benefit, and cheapness in that year. To see that a fire or a similar event has befallen the crop signifies the occurrence of famine in that place. If the crop burned and destroyed is one’s own property, it denotes that one will suffer loss at the hands of the government.
To see oneself watering a crop signifies the occurrence of something that will take place in one’s religion and worldly affairs. To see a river or stream in the midst of a crop is not good. To see the ears of one’s crop lying on the ground or beneath the feet of animals signifies harm to the dreamer; and if the owner of the crop is unknown, the harm will belong to the dreamer.
According to Kirmani: A crop is interpreted as women. To see oneself ploughing a field signifies intercourse with a woman. To see green ears of grain in their season signifies abundance of sustenance and bounty in that place; and if they are in one’s own property, it denotes that this bounty and sustenance belong to oneself.
To see in a dream that one possesses a crop which has reached maturity at its proper time signifies the fulfilment of one’s desire and attainment of one’s aim. If it is out of season, it signifies that opposition will arise among them or that a great calamity will occur.
According to one account, if the dreamer or the owner of the crop is known, it signifies the sudden death of that person or of one of his household or relatives. To see one’s green crop dry up signifies a calamity and disaster. To see a crop in a level field belonging to oneself signifies becoming wealthy.
To see one or several trees in a field and oneself watering them signifies the attainment of bounty. To see oneself cutting a crop outside its proper time signifies the occurrence of a great calamity, such as plague, among the inhabitants of that place.
According to Ismail al-Ash‘ath: Whoever sees himself cutting a crop in its season will encounter a fortunate portion. Whoever sees himself cutting grass of any kind will suffer good if it is a kind accepted among the people, and evil if it is not an accepted kind.
To see oneself sowing seeds in a field signifies attaining honour and rank. To see oneself sowing wheat signifies doing a deed in the way of Allah.
To see oneself sowing wheat and seeing it grow beautifully signifies that the inward aspect is good and righteous. To see oneself sowing barley and seeing it yield a fine harvest signifies that the woman whom one will marry is good.
To see green ears on their stalks signifies a fertile year, while dry ears signify the scarcity of increase and blessing.
To see a bundle of ears in one’s hand, or to see ears in a granary or vessel, signifies that property will come into one’s hand through another’s trade. To gather ears from another person’s crop signifies earning a small but continuous income. To harvest a crop outside its season while its ears have turned yellow signifies the death of the elderly; if the ears are green, it signifies the death of the young. To see an ear of wheat, with its grains, upon a bed signifies that one’s wife will become pregnant.
To sow tobacco in a dream signifies sustenance from a foreign land. To sow rice signifies the coming of years of abundance. It also signifies working for lawful property. Some have interpreted the sowing of grains contrariwise. In this matter, the condition of the dreamer is taken into consideration.
According to one account, all crops are good, and their straw is lawful property. To see many grasses upon the ground whose nature is not known signifies perseverance in religion.
According to one saying: A dream of crops, or of uncut grasses upon their stalks, is interpreted as people. To see crops or a kind of grass in a place, or to eat thereof, is goodness and bounty. To carry something thereof from one place to another signifies travelling in quest of sustenance.
Some have said: Whoever sees a field sown and its crop matured will attain goodness. According to one account, a dream of crops denotes the deeds of the people.
According to some: Whoever sees, in its season, a familiar crop belonging to himself will attain the good of this world and the Hereafter—that is, lawful property and honest earnings. To sow things other than grains is interpreted as striving and doing good in matters that benefit the people.
According to one account, this dream signifies confusion of mind. To see crops or a kind of grass in a place, or to eat thereof, is goodness and bounty. To take a bundle of crop from one place and carry it to another signifies a journey undertaken in search of sustenance.
Some have said: To see a field sown and its produce having emerged and reached maturity signifies goodness.
According to another account, seeing a crop is interpreted as a person’s deeds—that is, the good works and sins he has committed. If the crop is green, the dreamer’s deeds are righteous; if it is yellow, they are corrupt. Whoever sees the crop he has sown in his own field in its season reach maturity will attain the good of this world and the Hereafter—that is, lawful property and reward.
To see a sown place outside the area where it ought to be sown signifies that one has committed an act contrary to the sacred law. According to some, sowing things that can be eaten without cooking signifies good, while sowing things that cannot be eaten without being cooked signifies evil.
To see oneself sowing something, but it not sprouting, is interpreted in three ways: a bad custom, a difficult undertaking, and a matter from which no result will be obtained.
