To Marry / To Give in Marriage

Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq: Marriage in a dream is interpreted in four ways: 1—Grandeur 2—Wealth 3—Submission 4—Happiness.

Allamah Majlisi: To see in a dream that you are holding a wedding and getting married signifies that you shall obtain abundant money and attain your desire. “Marry off those among you who are unmarried, and the righteous among your male slaves and female slaves. If they are poor, Allah will enrich them from His bounty.”[100]

The Author: To see that you are marrying a woman whom you do not know at all signifies that you shall depart from this world prematurely; to see that you have brought a bride into your house and consummated the marriage with her signifies that you shall become a person of repute.

Ibn Sirin: To see that you have gone forth to seek a bride signifies that you shall attain honour and eminence; if you are unmarried, it signifies that you shall marry a woman possessing much wealth; to see that you have married a deceased woman and had intercourse with her signifies that you shall benefit from that woman’s property.

To see in a dream that you have married a deceased woman but have not had intercourse with her signifies that you shall receive a small amount of property; (For women) to see that you have married a deceased man and had intercourse with him in his house signifies that your condition shall worsen and that some of your property shall leave your possession.

To see that you have married a woman whom you do not know and whose name you have never heard before signifies that your death is near; (For women) to see the same dream as the one described above is not interpreted as auspicious.

Kirmani: If a married woman sees in a dream that she is the wife of another man, it is interpreted thus: If this woman has not seen herself holding a wedding within the same dream, her repute shall increase and her wealth shall multiply. To see that you are getting married but do not know who the bride is signifies that, in these present days, you shall experience fear of death.

To see in a dream that, while you are ill, you wish to marry a woman whom you do not know, or that your spouse has married someone else and brought the man whom she married into her house, signifies that you shall obtain a considerable amount of property from that person.

To see that you have married a corrupt woman and had intercourse with her signifies that you shall overcome certain difficulties in your affairs; to see that you have married a corrupt woman but have not had intercourse with her signifies that the things mentioned in the foregoing interpretation shall come to pass, but to a lesser degree; to see a wedding accompanied by musical instruments signifies calamity.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see that you have married a young girl and had intercourse with her signifies that, during the year in which you find yourself, you shall unite your life with a virtuous woman and receive good from a person whose word is heeded; to see that you have donned a bridal gown, married, and been taken to your husband signifies that your death is near.

Contemporary Scholars: To be filled with the desire for marriage in a dream signifies that you are on the eve of marriage; to marry signifies happiness and benefit; to marry a widow or a widower signifies disappointment; an unlawful marriage signifies that you will most probably witness a fire; to see a wife signifies becoming wealthy; to see a husband signifies that your fear concerning your livelihood shall be removed.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, emotional life, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
