To see oneself making a grave in a dream signifies repairing a house. To see a grave in a dream denotes prison or withdrawing into seclusion; to enter a grave alive signifies purchasing a house from the heirs of a deceased person; and for a single man to dig a grave denotes marrying a woman by deceit.

To see oneself standing directly above the grave in which a dead person has been buried signifies committing a great sin; a grave dug in an unknown and open place signifies the person’s abode in the Hereafter, and if he has entered it, it indicates that his appointed time is near.

To see oneself purchasing a grave but not entering it signifies marriage; to see a grave going to a place signifies that one of the heirs of the occupant of that grave will buy a house there and settle in it; and to be buried in a grave in a sewn shroud signifies marriage. (To dig a grave upon a roof, rooftop, or the like signifies a long life; visiting graves signifies visiting a prison; and to see oneself opening a grave indicates aspiring to and acquiring the occupation, profession, and way of life of the person buried therein.

To find in a grave, dead, one who is in reality already dead signifies failing to attain one’s desire and wish; to see oneself opening the blessed graves of our Prophet signifies reviving abandoned sunnahs; and to dig deeply until reaching his bones signifies falling into innovations and going to excess in religion under the impression that one is following the sunnah.

To see the dead rising from their graves and going toward their homes signifies that beautiful things not hoped for will come to pass.

For a person to make a grave in a dream means that he repairs and develops a house. If he sees himself digging a grave, then, if he is single, he will marry a woman through deceit and lies. Standing upon a grave indicates that he will commit a great sin. Digging a grave upon a roof signifies the length of his life; and visiting graves signifies visiting prisoners held in prison.

For a person to see himself making a grave in a dream means that he repairs a house. Digging a grave signifies marriage brought about through trickery for bachelors. Entering a grave signifies that troubles will be experienced in working life.

To see a clean grave in a dream signifies receiving money on account of something connected with the past. If the person himself enters the grave, his life will be prolonged.

What does it mean to see a grave in a dream? It is interpreted as prison. To see oneself in a cemetery signifies that one is being sought on account of a crime; and to see a funeral being buried in a cemetery signifies that one will be released from the place where one was arrested on account of a crime. (To see oneself standing upon a large grave and reading the inscriptions on its tombstone signifies that one has committed a great sin. To see oneself digging a grave for oneself in a large area where there are no other graves is evidence that one’s appointed time is near.

To see oneself purchasing a grave, having one’s own grave made before one dies, and having one’s name written upon it signifies that a woman known to the dreamer will marry. To see a grave being taken from one cemetery and transferred to another signifies that he or his children will have a house built in that neighborhood. (To dig a grave upon the roof of one’s own house signifies a long life. According to some interpreters, a grave is interpreted as a house. To see oneself lying down and rising in a grave and using it as one’s house signifies becoming poor.

To see oneself digging or having dug a grave for a member of one’s household or for oneself signifies that he will have a house built or purchased for himself and his family in that city. If a person sees himself in the family cemetery and repairing the graves belonging to his family and leveling their earth, this is evidence that his life will pass in health and at length.

To see oneself in the family cemetery, planting flowers upon the graves and watering them, signifies that he will have a child; and to see birds coming to drink from the small hollows made upon the gravestones for birds to drink from, but being unable to drink because there is no water in the vessels, signifies that prayers should be offered for them. (To see oneself buried while not dead signifies grief and distress. To see oneself lying in a grave in a shroud signifies marrying a woman. To see oneself lifting the earth with a shovel in order to open a grave signifies that he will attempt to perform the work the deceased carried out while alive. If the deceased was a scholar while alive, that person will become a scholar; and if he was wealthy, he will become wealthy.

To see the dead person in the grave one has dug and understand that he is alive is evidence that the wealth he has earned is unlawful, while the knowledge he has acquired is true. To see a dead person dead in his grave is interpreted as attaining one’s aim.

To see the dead emerging from their graves in a cemetery signifies, if the season is passing in drought, that the weather will open with suitable rain and that grain will be abundant that year. According to Kirmani, whoever sees in a dream that a grave is being dug or that he is digging one for himself or another person will have a house built in the place where he resides. Whoever sees himself kissing a grave will have a long life and lasting health.

Whoever sees himself buried in a grave before dying will enter prison or encounter difficulty in his affairs. Whoever sees himself buried like a dead person in a grave, but with the grave not covered over, will marry if he is a woman, and enter prison if he is a man. Whoever sees himself walking among graves and entering and leaving open graves will enter the houses of evil people or be cast into a dungeon.

Whoever sees himself digging a man’s grave and reaching the man buried therein will enter the profession in which that person was engaged. Whoever sees a person descend into a grave and then emerge and drive the dreamer away from it will be accused of a crime by a prisoner. Whoever sees himself digging a closed grave and a living man emerging from it will attain joy.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, whoever sees someone putting him into a grave will be cast into danger by that person. Whoever sees himself being placed in a grave will purchase a house. Whoever sees earth being cast over him in a grave will become a possessor of wealth.

Whoever sees himself digging earth in a cemetery will live a very long time. To see many graves in an unknown place signifies certain evil people. A known grave is interpreted by the command of God. To see greenery upon a grave signifies that the occupant of the grave is in mercy.

Whoever sees himself going to a cemetery and taking admonition will act with fairness in his affairs. Whoever enters a grave and sees the grave of a known man transformed into his own house will marry one of the relatives of the occupant of the grave. Whoever sees himself standing upon the grave of a wealthy man will attain worldly goods. Whoever sees himself walking among graves in a cemetery and saluting them will become bankrupt and beg. According to some interpreters, whoever sees himself in a grave with something written upon it will enter prison and will be unable to leave it.

To see oneself in a grave signifies being in distress. According to Ibn Sirin, whoever sees himself being placed in a grave will fall into distress. Whoever sees himself in a grave without it being covered over will undertake a long journey and return with good and benefit. Whoever sees himself standing upon his own grave and looking at himself will be freed from his sins. Whoever sees himself in a grave and being questioned by Munkar and Nakir will be brought before a court on account of a matter. Whoever sees himself answering them correctly will be secure regarding the matter about which he is questioned. If he errs in his answer, it is evil.

Whoever sees himself taken out of a grave and then placed back into it will receive good from the ruler and then be imprisoned. This interpretation concerns those who are government officials. As for others, the dreamer will first encounter good and then harm according to his station and rank.

To see a grave in a dream signifies prison; and a prison signifies a grave. Whoever sees himself making a grave will repair a house. Whoever sees himself entering a grave without seeing a funeral will purchase a house being sold by the heirs of a deceased person. If a single person sees himself digging in a cemetery, he will marry a woman through deceit.

Whoever sees himself standing upon a grave will commit a great sin. A grave dug by a person in a place where there is no wall signifies the house of the Hereafter. If he enters that house he has dug, it signifies that his appointed time is near. If he does not enter the grave, there is no harm for the owner of this dream.

Whoever sees himself purchasing a grave but not entering it will acquire a woman in marriage. If a person sees a grave going from one place to another, it signifies that one of the children or grandchildren of the occupant of the grave will build a house there. Known graves signify the command of Truth; unknown graves signify a hypocritical people.

Whoever sees himself digging a grave upon a roof will have a long life. Whoever visits graves in a dream visits a prison. Rain falling upon graves signifies that the mercy of Allah (Exalted is He) has manifested.

Whoever sees himself making a grave will marry. Whoever sees himself making a grave into a dwelling will reside there. Graves signify distant journeys, sorrow, grief, fearful places, wives, and prisons.

Whoever sees himself digging a grave in a city for himself or another person, or sees a grave being dug for him, will construct a building in that city or reside there. If a person sees himself completely closing the gaps and open places of a grave, his life will be long and he will always remain in good health.

Whoever sees himself buried in a grave without having died will be overtaken by sorrow and grief, encounter difficulty in his affairs, or be imprisoned. Whoever sees himself buried in a grave together with a sewn shroud will marry a woman.

Whoever sees himself opening the grave of a dead person: if the deceased seen in the dream is known, it is evidence that an argument will occur with that person. If the deceased is unknown, it signifies that the troubles will end. If he is wealthy, wealth and riches will reach that person. If he encounters the deceased in his grave and sees him alive, it signifies that the wealth to be given to that person is unlawful, while the knowledge and wisdom that will reach him are true.

Whoever finds a dead person dead in a grave in a dream will not attain his purpose and desire. Whoever sees himself opening the noble graves of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) will revive one of the forgotten sunnahs of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). But if he continues opening until he reaches the bones of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and breaks them, then, while unveiling that sunnah, he will fall into innovation and deviation.

If he sees unknown dead people springing up from their graves and going toward their homes, it signifies that evil people among the inhabitants of the city where the dreamer resides will become Muslims. Whoever sees himself opening the grave of an unbeliever, a person of innovation, or one of the protected non-Muslims will desire to follow the paths of deviation or become involved in unlawful wealth through deceit. If, upon opening the grave, he encounters something foul and putrid, black mud, or a great quantity of human excrement, it signifies that he will attain a corrupt and worthless desire.

The interpretation of seeing a grave in a dream is falling into imprisonment; seeing that one has had a grave made signifies that one will have one’s house repaired; and covering an open grave signifies living a healthy and long life.

To dig a grave and see a living person emerge from it signifies achieving success in the undertaking; to see someone attempting to place you in a grave signifies that danger is near you; and to see a well-maintained grave adorned with flowers signifies that that land will become wealthy and prosper.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
