Reciting the Qur’an

Whoever sees in his dream that he is reciting a surah from the Noble Qur’an, but does not know which surah he is reciting, if he is ill, he shall recover; if he is sorrowful, his sorrow shall pass; and if he is imprisoned, he shall be set free.

Reciting the Qur’an in a dream signifies speaking the truth and what is right. According to Ibn Sirin, whoever sees in his dream that he is reciting the Qur’an shall attain a lofty rank. Whoever sees himself reciting a verse and knows the noble meaning indicated by that verse shall attain the bounty and reward of Allah (Glorious and Exalted is He). Reciting a verse that points to punishment is likewise a sign that the reciter is being warned by the Most High Lord.

Whoever sees himself reciting the Qur’an from memory like a hafiz, although he is not a hafiz, shall attain abundant good works and pious deeds. Whoever sees the Qur’an being recited and himself listening to it shall have obeyed the commands of the Qur’an.

According to Jaber al-Maghribi, seeing that one has completed the recitation of the Qur’an is a divine grace whose reward is great. Such a person shall attain all his desires in this world. Reciting the Qur’an correctly leads to an increase in wealth and property. Reciting it with a beautiful voice signifies that he shall be granted divine forgiveness and attain a lofty degree in the Hereafter.

Whoever sees himself reciting the Qur’an in a place where it is not permissible to do so, or listening to the Qur’an being recited therein, has a deficiency in his religion. He must repent and renew his faith.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of success and reputation, spiritual signs, work and responsibility, journey and change should be considered together with the emotional tone in the dream and how the symbol concluded in the dream.
