Shield and Trench
To see oneself in a dream armed, inside a trench, and holding a shield indicates that one is being protected by another. Whoever sees himself protecting himself with a shield or a trench will be safe from the thing he fears and dreads.
To see oneself in a dream with only a shield in one’s hand and leaning upon it means that one trusts and relies upon a faithful friend. According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: if the trench and shield seen in a dream are made of iron, they are interpreted as a very brave man.
According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq: the trench and shield are interpreted in six ways: a brother, a friend, strength, a child, security, and a refuge.
