Trench and Shield
To see oneself in a trench while armed and holding a shield in one’s hand in a dream signifies that one is being protected by another person. Whoever sees that he is protecting himself with a shield or a trench becomes secure from the thing he fears and dreads. Whoever sees that he has only a shield in his hand and leans upon it will trust in and rely upon a faithful friend.
According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz, if the trench and shield seen in a dream are made of iron, they are interpreted as a very courageous man.
According to Ja‘far al-Sadiq, the trench and shield are interpreted in six ways: a brother, a friend, strength, a child, security, and a refuge.
