Tambourine

To see a tambourine in a dream signifies sorrow for a man and meddling excessively in women’s affairs; for a woman to see and play a tambourine signifies joy; for women to play tambourines and amuse themselves among themselves signifies a ceremony such as a wedding or betrothal; and to see someone playing a tambourine signifies relief and joy.

Whoever sees in a dream that a tambourine is being played and that he plays it in the proper manner will marry a woman who is known for ordinary goodness, but who is in reality evil.

According to Abu Sa‘id al-Wa‘iz: Playing a tambourine is fame or calamity for men. For women, it signifies goodness.

According to al-Salimi: Whoever sees in a dream that a tambourine is being played will attain renown. If the deed he performs is righteous, he will become famous for goodness; and if it is unrighteous, he will become famous for wickedness.

To see a woman playing a tambourine in a dream is a sign that her name will spread everywhere. For a young man to see himself playing a tambourine signifies that he will receive news from an enemy; and for an old man to see himself playing a tambourine signifies that he will live longer. To hear the sound of a tambourine played by a woman signifies joy and relief; whereas to hear the sound of a tambourine played by a young man is a sign that the enemy is near.

According to another narration: The tambourine seen in a dream is calamity, sorrow, and grief. The tambourine signifies renown for the person who is accompanied by it. If the tambourine is in the hand of a servant, it signifies a good that will emerge according to the condition of that servant. If the tambourine is in the hand of a man, whoever approaches that man will attain renown. If the tambourine is in the hand of a woman, it signifies a renowned undertaking.

In a dream, instruments such as the zurna and tanbur that are played at weddings signify calamity for the people of that house. The tambourine sometimes signifies marriage, and sometimes the arrival of a person who has been lost.
