Receiving a telegram in a dream is a sign of good news that will come from afar. It is unexpected assistance from an unforeseen person.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has written and completed a telegram will finish the work he has begun, and his wish will be fulfilled. If he does not complete the telegram and experiences difficulty, he will likewise encounter hardship in his affairs. Whoever sees that a telegram has been given to him will attain every kind of wish he desires.

According to one narration: To see a telegram in a dream is خير. If the telegram cannot be read, it signifies a hidden report; if it is clear, it signifies news known to everyone. To see that one has received a telegram informing him that something has been given to him is a sign that property will come into his possession.

A telegram in a dream from a high-ranking state official signifies that he will rise to a lofty office; if he is a merchant, it indicates that he will expand his trade. If the telegram comes only from a friend or a close relative and has been written merely to inquire after his well-being, it is evidence of a great blessing. If it comes from a relative residing abroad, it is a sign that he will receive good news from him.

To see in a dream that one has received from a man residing abroad a blank telegram containing no writing is not auspicious. To see that a telegram has come to him from a dead person signifies that he will receive joyful news.

According to Abu Sa'id al-Wa'iz: To see a written paper in one's right hand in a dream is a sign of that year's abundance and blessing. Whoever sees a written paper in his left hand will feel regret on account of a deed he has committed. According to one narration, seeing a written paper in the left hand signifies a child born of fornication or unlawful money. If the telegram received in a dream is sealed, it signifies the pleasure of the Truth; if it is sealed below and letterheaded above, it is joyful news.

Whoever sees in a dream that he has opened a telegram will be delivered from distress. Whoever does not open a telegram addressed to him, although an address is written upon it, is occupied with a troublesome and wicked affair. Whoever sees that he has opened and read a telegram that is sealed and bears an address is a person known for his honor and fidelity.

To see that one has read a telegram which has come to his address although he is not the person to whom it belongs is a sign that his livelihood will increase and that he will attain happiness. According to another narration: Receiving a telegram in a dream is a sign of auspicious news and glad tidings.

It can be read as a sign of easing, receiving support, gaining morale, or a fruitful development.

Underestimating opportunities, succumbing to comfort, or being late may reduce the positive effect.

In the interpretation, the themes of work and responsibility, success and reputation, the emotional tone in the dream, and how the symbol concludes in the dream should be evaluated together.
