Hanging (Being Executed)

If a person sees in his dream that he has been hanged, this indicates that he will rise in rank and be appointed to an office.

To see in a dream that one has been executed despite being dead signifies honor and exaltation in this world together with corruption in religion; to see oneself executed while alive indicates that one will attain exaltation, honor, and power without the corruption of one’s religion.

If a person sees in his dream that he has been hanged while making a sea voyage, this dream is a good omen for him. In general terms, being executed is interpreted as goodness and the disclosure of hidden things for the poor, and as evil and the deterioration of affairs for the rich.

His Eminence Imam al-Shafi‘i had been arrested. While in prison, he saw in his dream that he and Hazrat ‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) had been executed together, and he related this dream to certain interpreters of dreams. They replied: “The name of the person who sees this dream shall be mentioned everywhere in this world, and his renown shall fill the space between earth and heaven.” This interpretation later came to pass exactly as stated.

According to the interpretation of al-Kirmani: If a person sees in his dream that he has been hanged, he will attain great blessing and renown from the ruler or his deputy. If he sees in his dream that he has been hanged by order of the ruler, he will receive great kindness from him. Whoever sees that he has been executed by a group shall become the chief of that group and command them.

If an old person sees in his dream that he has hanged himself and that the people are watching him, this indicates that he will become a prominent person in the region in which he resides. If a person sees in his dream that he has hanged himself and that his relatives are also watching him, this is interpreted as meaning that he will be loved and respected by them and that his word will be obeyed.

If a person sees in his dream that he has been hanged and has fallen to the ground when the rope breaks, this indicates that, if he is an official, he will be dismissed from his post; if he is wealthy, he will become poor; if he is poor, he will lose his respectability; and if he is a merchant, he will suffer loss.

The execution of unmarried persons in a dream denotes marriage; with regard to slaves, it denotes attaining freedom.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
