Performing Ablution

To see oneself performing ablution in a refreshing place with clean, clear water in a dream denotes that the dreamer will attain the fruits of his deeds and that there will be certain improvements in his financial circumstances.

To see oneself leaving one’s ablution unfinished in a dream indicates that the proper time has still not arrived for the matters one has long desired to undertake, and that one must exert great effort for the necessary conditions to come into being.

To see oneself experiencing difficulty in performing ablution and being unable to perform it in a dream indicates that a valuable possession of the dreamer will disappear before his eyes, and that afterward, at an unexpected time and from an unexpected place, that possession will appear before him again.

To perform ablution and then pray in a dream indicates that the person who sees the dream will be freed from the troubles and calamities he is experiencing in his financial circumstances; that his heart will be relieved on account of this ease; and that, becoming more motivated, he will devote himself to new undertakings.

To see another person performing ablution in a dream means that you will pay off all your existing debts, or will possess the flow of money necessary to pay them off, and that through this state you will become assured of your future.

To see a sick person performing ablution in a dream indicates that the dreamer will experience some problems concerning his own spouse, and that if the problems tend to grow, he will divorce his wife or husband. Although this divorce may appear evil, it will cause the affairs of the person who sees the dream to prosper and enable him to benefit from the situation. If the dreamer is not yet married, he will go far away for a period that will not be very long as a result of the work he is carrying out with the help of his spouse’s or friend’s acquaintance.

To perform ablution with hot water in a dream indicates that money will be spent on hospitals, physicians, and medicines because of health problems; however, the sick person will find a remedy for his affliction, completely overcome his illness, and be rid of its harmful effects.

To see oneself performing ablution with cold water in a dream indicates that the dreamer will be freed from the doubts and misgivings over which he grieves, and that whatever is troubling him will either be cast away from him or will depart of its own accord, leaving him room to breathe freely.

To see oneself performing ablution in a mosque in a dream indicates that one’s friends will speak about him behind his back, but not in the form of gossip; rather, they will do so for his benefit, and as a result his friends will help him or guide him toward good works.

To see the water being cut off while performing ablution in a dream indicates that success in one’s working life or school life will finally come, that this success will increase one’s self-confidence, and that through this confidence one will present and market oneself better.

To see oneself performing a second ablution after an ablution, with water in which ablution is permissible, indicates that the dreamer’s heart will attain relief and that he will reach luminous and beautiful days. For the Noble Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said: “Ablution upon ablution is light.”

To see oneself performing ablution with drinking water in a dream indicates that the dreamer will attain his wishes in a short time, that he must always be sincere in what he asks of Allah, and that he must always ask for what is good.

To see oneself performing ablution with something other than water, such as milk, ayran, tea, and the like, indicates that that person will borrow money, and that his comfort will be somewhat disturbed while repaying this debt. To see oneself performing ablution with filthy water in a dream is likewise interpreted as that person falling into debt.

To see that one cannot complete one’s ablution, that an incomplete ablution has been performed, is interpreted as being exposed to a temporary difficulty.

If a person sees in his dream that he has performed ablution for the purpose of praying, this is interpreted as meaning that the Most High Allah has placed that person under His protection because of an enemy from whom he is wary. Whoever sees in his dream that he performs ablution and prays will be freed from grief and sorrow and will therefore give thanks to Allah.

If a person who has his own business and is engaged in commercial affairs sees himself praying without ablution in a dream, this indicates that he will acquire wealth without possessing any principal or capital in his hands.

If a person sees in his dream that he prays without having ablution, in a place where prayer is not permissible, such as a rubbish dump, this indicates that he will be unable to obtain something he greatly desires to possess and will live for a long time with the bitterness caused by being unable to attain it.

According to some interpreters of dreams: If a person sees in his dream that he is performing ablution, this is interpreted as indicating that he will return a trust to its owner, pay his debt, or give testimony that he is to give.

To see oneself bathing on account of major ritual impurity in a dream indicates that you will struggle with certain troubles and sorrows, that they will cause you distress, and that you will grieve and weep from sorrow.

According to the interpretation of Ibrahim al-Ash‘ath: To see oneself performing a perfect ablution in a dream indicates that you will be freed from sorrow and become secure from that which you fear.

For a sick person to see himself performing a beautiful ablution in a dream indicates that he will find a remedy for his affliction; if he is in debt, seeing himself perform a beautiful ablution indicates that he will pay his debt; and if a sinful person sees himself perform a beautiful ablution, it is interpreted as meaning that he will attain Allah’s forgiveness.

If a person sees in his dream that he wishes to perform ablution but cannot find water, this indicates that he will be unable to find a means of fulfilling his wishes. To see oneself performing an incomplete ablution and violating the order of washing the limbs of ablution indicates that the person is negligent in the duties he is obliged to fulfill toward Allah.

To see oneself drinking with one’s hand from the water with which one has performed ablution indicates that you will carry out works directed toward goodness and peace, and that you will compete with other Muslims in acts of worship.

To see oneself performing ablution in a marketplace or a bathhouse indicates that you will incur the wrath of Allah and His angels, suffer great loss and damage, and have your hidden faults and mistakes exposed.

Imam Nabulsi says: To see oneself performing ablution again while already having ablution indicates mercy upon mercy and blessing upon blessing. Again, whoever sees himself performing ablution or ritual bathing in a cold cellar will find the thing he had lost.

To see oneself performing ablution with milk or honey in a dream indicates safety and soundness in religious matters.

Nabulsi said: “To see oneself performing a complete ablution in a dream indicates beauty in all religions and protection to be granted by Allah, the Most High.”

To see oneself performing ablution in one’s bed, yet being unable to rise and writhing in the grip of a severe illness, indicates that one will part from one’s wife or friend.

To see oneself performing ablution upon a friend’s head in a dream indicates that one will become the friend’s heir and possess his belongings.

To see an acquaintance performing ablution at the head of one’s bed, however, is interpreted as falling into grief and sorrow.

To see oneself performing ablution upon an ablution in a dream indicates that, if that person is an artisan, he will be unable to find a place; and if he is a commander, he will be unable to find soldiers.

If one performs ablution in a rubbish dump or at the seaside, in a place where people perform ablution, this indicates the departure of sorrow, grief, and pain. If one sees one’s friend performing ablution upon one’s own head, great harm will come to that person from his friend, and he will fall into disgrace, sorrow, and grief.

Imam Ja‘far al-Sadiq (Peace Be Upon Him): To see oneself performing ablution while someone watches you indicates that someone will repent through your agency.

Allamah Majlisi: To see oneself performing ablution indicates that you will remain safe from people’s favors and that your need will be fulfilled without obligation.

The Author: To see oneself performing ablution with clean and clear water indicates that you will attain your desire. To see oneself performing ablution with unclean water is interpreted to the contrary.

Kirmani: To see oneself performing ablution with clear water indicates that, if you are sorrowful, you will rejoice; if you are in fear, you will remain safe; if you are in debt, your debt will be paid; and if you are ill, you will recover.

Jabir al-Maghribi: To see oneself perform ablution for prayer and then see one’s ablution become invalid indicates that, as a result of a work you undertake, you will become helpless and fall into distress.

To perform ablution in a dream means freedom from troubles; and the person who invalidates his ablution will become possessed of great wealth. To perform ablution in the room where one is sitting indicates that one will no longer sit there.

To see an unknown person performing ablution at one’s bedside indicates grief and sorrow; to perform ablution in one’s own house indicates that one will be unable to remain in that house for a long time; and to see oneself performing ablution with clean and clear water indicates that, if one is in sorrow, one will be freed from it; if one is ill, one will recover; if one is in debt, one will pay one’s debt; and one will be freed from one’s fears.

To see oneself scooping up and drinking the water of one’s ablution with one’s hand after performing ablution indicates good works and charitable deeds, blessing, healing from illness, and deliverance from fear.

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
