Water Well

To see a water well in a dream denotes a laughing and cheerful woman; but if the dreamer is a woman, it denotes a man of beautiful character. A well denotes wealth, knowledge, marriage, a large and fat person, or imprisonment, a bond and this document, or deceit.

If a person digs a well in a dream and water emerges from it, he marries a wealthy woman and deceives her. For digging a well is deceit. If no water emerges from the well, the woman he marries has no property. If a person sees himself drinking water from a well, and he himself dug that well, then he acquires property through his own deceit. If he was not the one who dug the well, property will nevertheless come to him through the deceit of the person who dug it, or of his namesake, or of his descendants and progeny who remain after him.

If a person sees an old well in a quarter, a house, or a village in a dream, and passersby draw water from that well with a rope and bucket and drink it, this denotes a woman from whom the people of that place derive benefit in their livelihood, or the husband of such a woman, or a person who oversees its value and affairs; and it denotes that he will have a good name and be praised for this work.

To see the water of a well overflowing and spilling outside in a dream denotes sorrow, grief, and weeping that will arise in that region. There is no harm, severity, or damage in seeing the well filled and overflowing. Whoever sees himself digging a well in order to water his garden takes medicine in order to unite with his wife.

Whoever sees in a dream that more water than flows from the well has overflowed and filled the houses will acquire property for which he will bear responsibility and sin. If the water breaks through the walls of the house and flows out, it denotes deliverance from sorrow and grief. A deficiency and loss will occur in his property in proportion to the amount of water that has emerged. (Whoever sees himself falling into a well whose water is turbid enters into dealings with one of the tyrannical and oppressive men of the ruler, and his affairs become difficult because he suffers that man’s oppression and deceit. If the water is pure, he conducts business with a clean and upright person and is pleased with him. Whoever sees himself sitting upon a well conducts business with a deceitful person, but is delivered from his deceit.)

Whoever sees himself emerging from a well, or hanging down into it, and the well’s water is sweet, then that well represents this man’s world. He will be provided with pure sustenance in proportion to the amount of that sweet water, and his life will be long. If the well he sees has no water, it is a sign that his life has come to an end.

To see a well collapsing in a dream denotes the death of one’s wife. Whoever sees his feet hanging down into a well will be subjected to deceit concerning all or part of his property. Whoever sees himself descending into a well and, when he reaches its middle, hears the call to prayer, will set out on a journey.

If a person sees in a dream that he has made a passage by which to descend into and emerge from a well, he will attain leadership and governorship, or trade and profit, and glad tidings. If he hears the call to prayer when he has descended halfway into the well, then, if he is a governor, he will be dismissed; and if he is a merchant, he will suffer loss in his trade. It is said that if a person sees a well in his own house and land, his livelihood will be abundant, he will pass from hardship to ease, and he will receive benefit from an unexpected place.

Whoever sees himself falling into a well in a dream will have his rank and station lowered. Sometimes a well denotes parents, a child, a disciplinarian and teacher, a grave, deceit, cursing, the removal of needs, travel, any desire, miserliness, and goodness. There is a different interpretation for every well.

To see a household well in a dream denotes the master of the house, his property and shop, his wife, his servant, his wealth, his death, and his life. A functioning well denotes travel and movement that are inactive; wells upon the road denote a mosque or a harbor. At times, wells upon the road denote women who commit fornication with everyone. Hot wells denote their guards and those occupied with the affairs of their surroundings; and a well on the road denotes relief after distress. For through it, some people become happy and wealthy, while others become poor. At times, this well denotes a center of knowledge and schools for students. For some of them graduate from those madrasas having acquired knowledge and virtue, while others graduate without acquiring knowledge.

To see a waterless well in a dream denotes deceit and rubbish. If he sees it therein because of a murder committed during a journey, it denotes the arrival of a person whose prayer will bring benefit to the people. Sometimes this dream denotes that the people of that town will prevail over their enemies and that their blessings will be abundant; and at times it denotes that beneficial rain will fall when their needs arise.

Whoever sees himself standing over a well and drinking from its clean and clear water in a dream—if the dreamer is a scholar, he will attain knowledge and virtue in proportion to the amount of water he drinks. If he is poor, he will become wealthy; if he is unmarried, he will marry; and if his wife is pregnant, she will bear a child. (Especially if he drank the water with a bucket.) If none of these things occurs, it will nevertheless become a means for that person. If he is in need, his need will be fulfilled; and if he desires to travel, he will set out on a journey and benefit from it. If he has a wish or desire, he will attain it. If the rope of the well is near the well, it denotes a benevolent person; if it is far away, it denotes a miserly person. (If he sees the water of the well sunk into the ground in a dream, it denotes associating partners with Allah and unbelief. Sometimes a well denotes doubt in religion. Whoever sees a well closed up, and whose wife is ill or in a state of postpartum confinement, will be delivered from her illness. Whoever sees himself drinking from the water of a well will be afflicted by an illness.)

It provides early awareness; the person sees risks before they grow and can choose a more solid path.

Neglect, haste, untrustworthy people or uncontrolled behavior can increase the difficulty.
