Transit Mercury: Meaning in 12 Houses

Mercury, being the closest planet to the Sun, completes the zodiac in approximately 88 days (practically ~1 year, including retrograde periods) and stays in a sign for an average of 2-3 weeks. Transit Mercury shows what topics your mind, conversations, and decisions are focused on during those weeks.

Fundamental Theme of Transit Mercury

\n

Mercury is the planet of communication, thought, and information processing. The house it transits indicates the area where your mental energy and the traffic of your conversations/writing intensify during that period. Since it goes retrograde 3-4 times a year (see Mercury retrograde), it may pass through some of these houses two or three times — the theme of that house comes up repeatedly during that period.

Notable Transit Mercury Moments

\n

When Mercury is retrograde, the house it passes through enters “review” mode — extra care is needed with signatures, decisions, and communication. The conjunction of transit Mercury with natal Uranus can bring sudden ideas/news, while the conjunction with natal Neptune may introduce distractions or an inspired period of creativity.
