Transit Saturn and Saturn Return: Meaning in 12 Houses

Saturn stays in a sign for about 2.5 years and completes the zodiac in ~29 years. This gives rise to one of astrology’s most “weighty” yet enlightening transits: Saturn Return — the return to its position in your birth chart approximately every 29 years (around ages 29, 58, 87).

Core Theme of Transit Saturn

Saturn is the planet of discipline, responsibility, and maturation. The house it transits shows which area you will carry serious trials, the need to build structure, or a burden of responsibility for about 2.5 years. Although it may seem difficult, Saturn transits generally result in lasting, solid gains — teaching the lesson of “doing things right without rushing”.

Saturn Return and Other Critical Ages

The first Saturn Return (~29 years) is often experienced as a transition to “real adulthood”. Additionally, ages when Saturn makes square aspects to its natal position (~7, ~21, ~36, and ~44) are minor yet noticeable “reality check” periods (quarter points of Saturn’s cycle).
